Green Schools

There was a wonderful celebration in St Joseph’s last Friday 18th October 2013 as the school celebrated received it’s first Green flag. Mr Ted Lucey, the Lord Mayor praised the pupils for their efforts in Reducing waste, Re-using and Recycling . Mr Pat Halloran , Chairperson Board of Management and members of the Board, the Parents Association, Sr Mary Fleming, Mr Clancy and past pupils who were on the Green Schools Committee also attended.

We were proud of the members of the Green Schools Committee- Eva Slattery and Kate Condon acted as MCs, while Kitty Clancy introduced our guests and Eileen Condon thanked everyone for helping to make the occasion so special.

All the children wore green, and the school hall was decorated with art work which had a recycling theme. Most important everyone brought a waste free lunch that day. Ms Gerardine Browne unveiled our Green Schools plaque,  the oldest and the youngest pupils cut our special cake. This cake was donated to us for our celebration. Each class won a class prize. This added to the excitement of the moment.

All of the Green School Committee were presented with a special certificate to thank them for all their work in achieving the Green Flag. For more information heck out our school blog
