Seachtain na Gaeilge i Rang a dó
We had a great week for Seachtain na Gaeilge i rang a dó. While dressed in green, we practiced for our show, had a visit from the Woodland String Band, had 2 ceilis (one with first class), did art for Mothers Day and St. Patrick’s Day and had a visit from our faith friends in St. Mary’s. We also examined a wasp nest. We also had a small bit of time to continue with our normal school work!
Mental Health Week March 20th to 24th
This week, as part of our work towards achieving the Amber Flag in association with Pieta House, we are holding “Mental Health Week.” We will be doing lots of lovely activities to continue to promote positive mental health in school.

About Our School
St. Joseph’s Primary School is a large urban primary school which caters for girls from Junior Infants to Sixth Class and boys from Junior Infants to First Class. At this stage the boys transfer to St. Colemans’s B.N.S. St. Joseph’s Primary School caters for in and around 300 pupils and currently has a staff of over 20.
We are very fortunate to now have an adjoining pre-school run by Macroom Family Resource Centre.
We are situated in Macroom town near St. Colman’s Parish Church. St. Joseph’s Primary School first opened in 1865 by the Sisters of Mercy. The present school was opened in 1974.
The school is under the patronage of the Bishop of Cloyne. The school is a Catholic school with a Catholic ethos. We do however welcome pupils from different religious backgrounds.
Our vision here in St.Joseph’s is that each person through positive learning experiences will be stimulated to achieve his/her full potential, face life confidently, find fulfilment and be respectful in an ever-changing world.
