Our Green Schools Committee were very excited to attend the Gum Litter Roadshow held at the Town Hall on Tuesday, the 10th of June. We partook in fun games and received some goody bags before partaking in a photo shoot.
We were joined by Deputy Mayor of Cork County, Martin Coughlan, local Councillors, representatives from Macroom Tidy Towns and the St Colman’s Green School Committee at the launch of the Roadshow. The Gum Litter Taskforce hopes to achieve a long-term sustainable solution to the irresponsible disposal of chewing gum litter. Gum litter has reduced by almost 70% since 2007. 92% of people dispose of their chewing gum correctly. However, according to latest research, 1 in 12 confess to dropping their gum on the ground, with men being twice as likely to do so.
Let’s make Macroom free of Gum litter!
