Our 5th & 6th Class girls participated in the JEDI programme over the last number of weeks.
TheΒ Junior Engineer Development Initiative (JEDI)Β is a primary school programme designed to improve childrenβs engineering skills, their understanding of the attributes needed to be an engineer, and to reduce misconceptions relating to engineering. TheΒ JEDIΒ programme is aligned with the new engineering-based learning objectives that are being introduced in the revised STEM primary school curriculum. The project is being funded by Research Ireland and the Department of Education.
It involved making tea boxes based on a brief and using engineering skills to create a prototype. It involved 3 lessons in class and a visit from an Engineer. They really enjoyed the engagement in the project.
