We are delighted to give a sneak peek of our new âSecret Gardenâ which has seen the transformation of a piece of unused ground at St. Josephâs. Thanks to a huge team effort by the schoolâs Board of Management, Parentsâ Association, staff and local businesses we have been able to turn the area into an outdoor classroom and leisure space over the Summer break that will be enjoyed by all pupils in the school long into the future. Not fully complete yet, there are lots of further additions to be made to make the space fully usable.Â
A particular thank you to Alice da Silva, Chairperson of Cairde Naomh IĂłsaf, who kept the development on track and liaised with all involved; especially Kieran Desmond, Plant and Haulage who completed all the ground works, parent Ted Oâ Riordan of Tedz Gardenz who did a fantastic job of fencing off the area, schoolsgrass.ie who supplied and fitted the astroturf and we are also grateful to Anthony OâConnell tree care for creating extra space.Â
We are very grateful to local businesses also, whose kind donations will help enhance the area and allow for the completion of the initial phase of the garden. We would like to thank Cygnum for the creation of two large picnic tables which have been a great addition to the space already. Thanks to the staff involved and to Trish and past pupil Peter McSweeney for organising  the tables and their delivery. Thanks also to Roadstone and Inver.Â
The development could not have happened without the funds raised by the Parentsâ Association over the last few years through events such as our Halloween Walk, Bake Sales and raffles as well as our ever-popular weekly Lotto fundraiser which is supported by parents, past pupils, grandparents and the wider community. Go raibh maith agaibh go lĂŠir!Â
