Our Green School Committee members represented the school in a very mature manner on Thursday, April 30th 2024. The girls joined their compatriots from McEgan College, St. Mary’s and St. Coleman’s at a travel hub meeting held in the Town Hall.

Many local politicians attended the meeting including Harriet Burgess, Councillor Eileen Lynch, TD Aindrias Moynihan, Gobnait Moynihan and MEP’s Grace O’Sullivan and Billy Kelleher. The event was also attended by town engineer James Dwyer, Ken Hegarty and Mary O’Shaughnessy.

Molly and Clara spoke eloquently on behalf of the St Joseph’s Green School Committee and were the youngest speakers on the day. As Molly said “Imagine a Macroom where every child has the option to walk or cycle safely to school. It would make such a difference to our fitness, our health, our parents stress levels, our community and most importantly our planet”.
