Walk for Water 2024

Members of the St Joseph’s Green Schools Committee attended the annual Walk for Water event in Gougane Barra on March 22nd. The girls carried up to 6 litres of water on their backs in a 6km trek to the top of Gougane Barra. The recycled containers were filled from the source of the River Lee and the walk was completed to simulate the daily challenges facing children in developing countries. Uisce Éireann and Green-Schools held the event to raise awareness of the 2.2 billion people around the world living without access to safe drinking water.

Thanks to Garda Orla Doyle who provided transport to the event. The Committee members were wrecked after their hike and are very grateful for the easy access they have to safe drinking water on a daily basis.
